"Bird of the Year" contest in Armenia - Ornithologists' Day

Today, on February 19, in parallel with the professional day of ornithologists, the Branch of German Nature Protection Union (NABU) in the Republic of Armenia has chosen the species Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus) as the winner of the 2021 "Bird of the Year" competition.

The aim of the competition is to raise the level of awareness about birds, to make their threats even more audible.

Egyptian vulture is a species registered in the Red Book, it is endangered, it needs our attention and protection.

In 2022, we will choose the winner of the "Bird of the Year" contest together through public voting. Voting will be carried out with the help of our media platforms, in which everyone can participate.

Congratulations to both ornithologists as well as ordinary bird lovers on the occasion of the holiday.
