Within the framework of the “Clean shore, clean spring” campaign, our team visited Tsakkar village in Gegharkunik province in order to clean the adjacent territory of yet another river in Armenia. Suggestion about area requiring a clean-up came form ISSD – “Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Development of Communities” NGO. The representatives of ISSD joined our volunteers heading to Tsakkar village to carry out river cleaning activities.
The initiative was implemented by a joint effort of NABU-Armenia and ISSD teams. Special guests and activists at the event included the Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Gnel Sanosyan, the head of Tsakkar community Gitun Avetisyan, and villagers of all ages.
Collected garbage was sorted out and the plastic, about 35 kg, was sent to Yerevan for recycling.
NABU-Armenia and ISSD teams are going to continue their cooperation in the future, with the hope of a clean Armenia.
