Active fieldwork continues under the program "Protection of Birds from Collisions with Power Lines and Electrocution."

The branch of German Nature Protection Union (NABU) in the Republic of Armenia has been conducting research in the Ararat, Armavir, Kotayk, and Shirak regions since May 2024, as part of the "Protection of Birds from Collisions with Power Lines and Electrocution" program.

Approximately 130 km of medium-voltage aerial power lines have already been surveyed.

During the studies, dangerous power lines for birds, as well as the species and number of birds that have been electrocuted, are recorded. According to current data, the most frequently encountered electrocuted species are the Steppe Lark, the Great Lark, the Common Meadow Pipit, and several corvids.

In collaboration with the "Electric Networks of Armenia" (CJSC), efforts are being made to identify hazardous areas for birds and develop mitigation strategies.

The work was carried out within the framework of German Nature Protection Union (NABU) program “New Partnership for the Conservation of Birds of Prey in Eastern Europe”, funded by NABU International and VGP funds
