Erebuni State Reserve is located in the Ararat region of the Republic of Armenia, not far from the city of Yerevan. It was founded in 1981 in the territory of Erebuni administrative district. One of its main and most important values is the conservation of wild wheat gene pool, which is unique in the world. The reserve now covers an area of 120 hectares.
The flora includes 278 species of 176 genera and 42 families of high quality plants, 7 of which are registered in the RA Red Book. There are 3 out of 4 types of wild wheat known in the world (Ararat, Urartian and single grains) with a large variety of intraspecific variety (about 110 different species).
