Protected areas are areas of land (including surfaces, underground waters and subsoil) and the corresponding water surfaces and airspace above them, territories and separate natural objects allocated by law, which are of ecological, scientific, educational, health-improving, historical-cultural, recreational, tourism, aesthetic value and for which a special protection mode is determined.
They represent a restriction or general prohibition by the state of any economic activity in various areas of nature by legislation aimed at preserving biodiversity and ecosystems.
The purpose of protection of protected areas of nature is to:
- to ensure the development of natural ecosystems, biodiversity and landscapes, natural heritage of protected areas corresponding to the norm,
- to exclude or mitigate any activity contributing to the disturbance of natural processes,
- to detect and prevent offenses committed by nature users, as well as by persons entering the protected area,
- ensure the implementation of the established mode of the protected area.
In the protection zone of protected areas are forbidden economic activities that may endanger the sustainability of ecosystems of these territories, protection of representatives of flora and fauna, objects of scientific or historical and cultural value.
