February 2 is World Wetlands Day.
Wetlands include marshes, rivers and lakes, coastal wetland areas, submarine and marine areas, and man-made water systems, among others.
Wetlands are important for people and nature, given the benefits and services these ecosystems provide, including ecological, climatic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, recreational, for sustainable development and human well-being.
Since 2007, the branch of the German Nature Protection Union (NABU) in the Republic of Armenia has been implementing programs aimed at studying valuable wetlands, eliminating them and developing proposals for their solution in order to work with local communities, seeking sustainable use of natural resources for animal habitats.
