The main causes of contamination of water ecosystems in Armenia are agricultural and industrial activities, as well as indifferent attitude of the population.
In 2018 NABU carried out a number of activities aimed at preservation and purification of water areas in Armenia within the framework of its “Clean coast, clean spring” campaign.
Water areas are extremely important for their unique biodiversity, and their protection is the responsibility of each of us.
This campaign enabled to:
- Form an active approach to environmental and water pollution issues
- Introduce a responsible attitude toward the use of natural resources
- Draw the public attention to the problem and find ways to resolve it
