Identifying human-wildlife conflicts in Ijevan and Vanadzor communities

NABU-Armenia continues the research on identifying confrontation between humans and wildlife outside protected areas in Armenia. This time the studies  were conducted in Ijevan and Vanadzor communities and adjacent villages. Community leaders, village heads and local farmers were interviewed on the subject of potential local conflicts between humans and wildlife. NABU organized visits to local schoold and had lectures on the biodiversity of Armenia as part of the project.

The aim of the project is to gain an overview of applied mitigation practices, determine adaptive measures to minimize and prevent human-wildlife conflicts with the help and suggestions of locals. And, of course, to raise public awareness about conservation and conflict mitigation measures.
