From collision with power lines and electric shock

The branch of the German Nature Conservancy Union (NABU) in the Republic of the Army has been conducting research in the Shiran region since May 2024 as part of the programs "Protecting residents from destruction and enslavement by electric current on power lines."
Monitoring was carried out in the area of power lines, where the largest number of birds affected by collisions and electric shocks were found: these areas were examined several times with a certain frequency.

Analyzing the research data available to date, we can say that the following bird species have suffered the most from collisions and electric shocks on power lines: Common kestrel, magpie, Rook. A number of Red Book species were also affected: steppe wind hawk, flamingo, golden eagle, owl. Thus, data analysis will make it possible to identify areas that are dangerous for birds and develop ways to mitigate the problem.

We would like to express our gratitude to Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC for their cooperation and support in the ongoing work. The work was carried out within the framework of the programs of the German Environmental Protection Union (NABU) "New Office for the Protection of Natural Resources in Eastern Europe", funded by the NABU International Foundation and vgb․
